Our first home...my island

This is a story about my first house...

This little (bank owned) gem was one of the first homes we looked at when we began thinking of moving out of our rental cottage. Both my mom and husband thought I was crazy for wanting it, but I had vision and the house had good light.  It is located in a court that backs to open space.  I need space.  I need to escape, to walk, to climb, to get out.  I like driving 'up' to a house and the court is on a hill.  Also it needed me.

House: 1242 sq ft. 3 bed/2 bath
Lot: 7,000+/- sq ft.

We needed everything...EVERYTHING.  We had a garage door installed the day we closed.  Next, ceilings were painted and I decided to slowly paint the walls myself.  Carpet and tile were ripped out and we put down laminate but left the carpet in the bedrooms.  In hindsight we should have done all the floors.  Our laminate was later discontinued and we had to get creative.  Also before moving in we painted kitchen cabinets and picked out granite for counters and new appliances.  Bathrooms were done over time.  A lot was done over time...it's been six years and we're still finding things to do, but this is my little island today...
